Portrait of the "giraffe" long neck woman of the Karen hilltribes of Northern Thailand. The brass rings were added when they were young & remain there as without them, they could die of neck breakage because of lack of physical support.
The reasons for their local culture were numerous among them were physical beauty & the prevention of tiger bites on the neck when the women are out collecting firewood in the forest.
